The Role
As a Project Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our company's success by providing accurate and detailed estimates for construction projects. You will work closely with customers, contractors, and other team members to gather project requirements, analyze data, and create comprehensive estimates that meet our clients' needs.
In this role, you will utilize your expertise to assess project options wtih various vendors and determine optimal material costs. You will work on a variety of projects, ranging from residential to commercial construction, ensuring that each estimate is tailored to the specific requirements of the job.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients and team members to gather project requirements and specifications.
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, and other documentation to understand project scope.
- Conduct site visits to assess project needs if requested by homeowner or contractor.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost calculations for materials
- Source and evaluate suppliers and vendors to obtain the most competitive pricing.
- Create accurate estimates, including detailed breakdowns of costs
- Review and modify estimates as necessary, based on project changes, market cost change, or additional information.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members to address questions or concerns.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, cost data, and project documentation.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, pricing, and regulations to ensure accurate estimations.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a project estimator in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, techniques, and building codes.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and other relevant tools.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate cost calculations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
